About Us

We are two cousins from Florida who wanted to start a blog and share our passion for cooking, creating and gardening... and everything else in between. We are not trained chefs, nor do we have any degrees in interior design, wood working, art or horticulture. We just do what we love, learning and educating ourselves along the way!

A little about Debbie: Hey yall,  Born and raised in Jacksonville, not an exciting city, but maybe I will make it more exciting....I am a wife of almost 30 years to one man, and the love of my life, together we have 5 kids...and one of the most fabulous grandbabies ever. In May we will be blessed to add two more grandbabies to our family...I am a self taught cook, my mom taught me the basics and I watched my mother in law, who is an awesome cook,  I just carried it further. I love to cook, I love to create. Turning ugly furniture into something fun, makes me happy. I started a cooking class, not to teach complicated things but to teach the basic of cooking, I see so many young adults knowing nothing about cooking and my heart just wants them to know the basic...I am a self taught gardener, I learn from mistakes but always do it right the next time...I love watching the food network and the cooking channel. I collect cookbooks, its my favorite thing to HOARD...I am a florida girl at heart...sun, salt and warm weather is my passion, even though I enjoy a cold night. I am excited to share this blog with my cousin, she is an artist, I have a son who is also an artist. she loves to cook and loves to also create. together i hope you enjoy our posts.....WE are the american family........see ya in the kitchen

A little about Dedra:  I am a wife and a full time mom of four, two adult children and two toddlers. I am also about to be blessed with the title of "Grandma"! I love to cook and to try new recipes... making them 'my own' in some small (or big) way. My other hobbies include close up photography, painting and most recently abstract wood wall art. I have also found a new love of gardening and growing herbs and vegetables (although I am very much a beginner and just learning). I am a life-long Floridian, and currently call South Florida my home. Living in Florida my entire life has given me a true love of all things coastal and has a big influence on my artistic and home life. I am looking forward to this new venture into blogging with my talented cousin and hope it exceeds all expectations!
